08:39 pm - Mars (Snickers, M&M's, Twix etc) Tests on Animals
Mars preforms outdated and unnecessary animal testing.

Encouraging everyone to send a letter, even if it's the form letter. Hershey's, Mars leading competitor, has stopped animal testing.

This was my letter, feel free to copy:

I was appalled to learn that Mars currently funds deadly animal tests even though the tests are not required by law, more reliable human studies could be used instead, and your chief competitor, Hershey's, refuses to test its products on animals. With the world becoming ever so health, earth and animal rights conscious, I can't imagine your pro-animal testing stance is lucrative both financially and public relations-wise. The image of the sterile corporate giant is not a favored view in the public eye; more and more consumers are leaning towards products that are natural, organic and locally grown/produced. I'm sure your own marketing research has told you the same.

Please follow Hershey's lead by promising not to fund or conduct experiments on animals. To quote Gandhi, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." I, as the consumer, am judging the greatness of your company.

Unless I hear that Mars has ended all support for animal tests, I will be buying my candy from a more compassionate company and will encourage my friends and family to do the same. I may be one person, but even the smallest stone creates ripples in the pond.

It's getting to be that you can't buy anything any more with some form of human or animal cruelty linked to it. :(

What the FUCK is wrong with people?
We GET that smoking is bad for us yet we still find it necessary to force monkeys and dogs to smoke?
We GET that eating a high-cholesterol diet is bad for us yet we still feel it necessary to force feed rabbits fatty foods and then KILL them to see its effects?
I swear to god, if I hear about ONE more company doing animal testing, I'm making ALL my clothes and food myself!!

I know, I wish I owned a farm where I could personally guarantee the safety, health and humane treatment of all the animals. :(
